Amy Goto

About

Amy Goto, born in 2004 in South Carolina, began studying the cello at the age of three.

Amy is currently pursuing her Master of Music degree at the Yale School of Music under the guidance of Paul Watkins. In 2024, she received her bachelor’s degree with honors from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, completing the institution’s three-year degree program in one year.

Amy was awarded the AENA Special Prize (Second Prize) at the Pablo Casals International Award in 2022. In 2025, she was awarded the Prize for the best performance of the commissioned work at the International Musical Competition “Dr. Luis Sigall”. From 2020 to 2022, she was the youngest member of Gautier Capuçon’s Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle at the Fondation Louis Vuitton.

As a soloist at the 2022 Verbier Festival Academy, Amy took part in masterclasses with Frans Helmerson, Miklós Perényi, Alban Gerhardt, Augustin Dumay, Mihaela Martin, and Gábor Takács-Nagy.

Amy has performed at venues and festivals including the Fondation Louis Vuitton, Pau Casals International Music Festival of El Vendrell, Schloss Elmau, Music@Menlo, Domaine Forget, Festival de Musique de Wissembourg, and TEDx at the University of Rhode Island. Her performances have been broadcast on NPR’s From the Top, Radio Classique, and medici.tv.

Amy performs on a cello made by Ferdinando Alberti in Milan, circa 1750, generously loaned by Christophe Landon.
